We’ve accomplished some amazing things in my short time in office.
- Together, we fought against big tech—and won—by prohibiting data centers across the city. This critical step protects our neighborhoods from industrial encroachment, preserving spaces for housing, small businesses, and community gathering places.
- We established Atlanta’s very first Legacy Business Program, safeguarding the historic businesses that make District 4 a cultural and economic cornerstone of our city. By supporting these businesses, we’re investing in the heart and soul of our community.
- Our commitment to pedestrian safety has been unwavering. From securing $30 million in federal funds to make streets safer in Mechanicsville and Downtown Atlanta to installing over $1 million in speed humps across nearly 50 streets in District 4, we’re making our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
- We’ve made remarkable progress in sustainability and livability. By banning gas stations and drive-thrus near the Beltline, we’re creating walkable, connected communities and ensuring that our city evolves with the needs of its residents in mind.
- District 4 has also seen the largest expansion of bicycle infrastructure in its history, including one of the “best new bike lanes of 2023.” These improvements are reducing car dependency and giving people safer, greener ways to travel.
- We worked tirelessly to secure the redevelopment of Mall West End—a vital project that will revitalize the economic and cultural heartbeat of our district while creating new opportunities for residents and businesses.
- I partnered with community organizations supporting initiatives to keep young people off the streets and placed into programs that promote personal growth and social development. This meant collaborating with the Atlanta Braves Foundation and Truist Bank to invest in new park amenities to provide a safe outlet for young people to be active. This also meant partnering with institutions like Emory to tackle youth violence and provide job opportunities for our residents.
- We placed new rules to prioritize the safety and well-being of pedestrians at intersections in Downtown, Midtown, and Castleberry Hill and I successfully fought to keep affordable housing a budget priority by allocating an additional $3.5 million from the general fund to the Housing Trust Fund, one of our most important affordable housing tools.
- Financially, we helped steer the city to a ‘AAA’ bond rating, the highest Fitch credit rating in Atlanta’s history. This achievement ensures that we can continue to invest in transformative projects while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
